1964-ben született. (Erdészeti és Faipari diplomát szerzett)

Mikael Pentikäinen 2004 óta a Sanoma News vezetőségének tagja.  2004-2010 között a Sanoma News elnöke és tagja a Sanoma Corporation elnökségének. 1999-2004 között az finn hírügynökség, a Suomen Tieto Toimisto, STT igazgatója és főszerkesztője. Ezt megelőzően az Etelä-Saimaa nevű napilap főszerkesztőjeként működött 1996-tól.

Mikael Pentikäinen 1990-ben végzett a Sanoma újságírói iskoláján, majd tanulmányai után az iskola aszisztene lett.

1992-1996-ig a riporterként és politikai szerkesztőként dolgozott a Helsingin Sanomatnál.

Mikael Pentikäinen has been a member of the Management Group of Sanoma News since 2004. He has served as President of Sanoma News and a member of the Executive Management Group of Sanoma Corporation (2004–2010), President and Senior Editor-in-Chief of the Finnish News Agency STT (1999–2004) and Editor-in-Chief of Etelä-Saimaa (1996–1999).

Mikael Pentikäinen graduated from the Sanoma School of Journalism in 1990, after which he worked as Assistant at the school. From 1992 to 1996, he worked as a reporter at the political editorial office of Helsingin Sanomat.
